Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has appointed Dan Haxby as Head of Realisations within RBS’s Strategic Investment Group (SIG). SIG is responsible for all aspects of the equity positions that the bank takes through debt for equity swaps and new money investments in restructuring situations. It sits within RBS’s Global Restructuring Group.

Haxby used to work as the Head of Financial Sponsors Coverage at JP Morgan, before moving to the same role at RBS’s Global Banking and Markets business (GBM). In the new role Haxby will work the lifecycle of a SIG investment from the identification of equity opportunities through to their subsequent realisation. He will start his new role on 1 September 2011.

John Davison, Global Head of SIG, says: “This is an important appointment, helping RBS to maximise the value of the substantial portfolio the Strategic Investment Group holds. Dan will bring a range of skills and experience which will prove invaluable in maximising returns.”

Haxby says: “I’m delighted to be taking up this new role to add value to RBS’s Strategic Investment Group.  Identifying the right equity opportunities and exit plans will be a critical feature in managing this significant portfolio."
