Blue Sky Alternative Investments (formerly Blue Sky Funds Management) has appointed Debra Goundrey (pictured) as Global Head of Distribution and David Fraser as Global Head of Private Clients – two newly created roles, which will focus on strengthening Blue Sky’s private client base and distribution channels domestically and offshore.

Goundrey will be based between Brisbane and New York to establish Blue Sky’s presence in North America and Europe and will contribute to the growth of the firm’s domestic assets and distribution strategy.
Fraser will focus on growing Blue Sky’s private client base in the high net worth and family office space domestically and globally.

Blue Sky has grown rapidly in the past few years by developing high-performing and innovative alternative investment products. The firm now has more than USD200m in assets under management across private equity, private real estate, hedge funds and water assets.

Blue Sky Managing Director Mark Sowerby says the appointments are part of the next phase of growth for the company.

“Deb has a proven track record in driving domestic and internationally sourced investment and strengthening distribution strategies, which will be key drivers for our future success,” Sowerby says. “David’s experience in managing funds and private clients will help drive our distribution strategy and boost plans to grow Blue Sky’s existing private client base.”

Goundrey has more than 15 years’ experience working in financial services leading foreign and domestic investment and distribution strategies for big names such as the National Australia Bank, Rio Tinto, HBOS, GT Capital and Invest Australia.

She has an MBA from the Melbourne Business School (University of Melbourne), a Bachelor of Arts (Business/Communications) from Curtin University of Technology, and holds US FiNRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.
Fraser has experience in managing private client relationships and investment portfolios for Credit Suisse, Invest Brisbane and The Office of Economic Development, City of Brisbane.

He recently won the 2010 Australian New Outstanding Relationship Manager in the Australian Private Banking Awards and has completed a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) and post graduate Diploma in Business Communication from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
