Carne expands Cayman Islands office with appointment of fifth fund director
Carne Group, a provider of governance solutions to the global fund management industry, is expanding its Cayman Islands office with the appointment of Vanessa Barrett to its team of independent fund directors.
Barrett, a fund director who has worked in the hedge funds industry for over 12 years, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and has worked with Ernst & Young and UBS in several jurisdictions, including Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, the UK and the US. She has served as a director on Cayman Islands funds since 2010 and has extensive experience at senior management level with the alternative fund services division at UBS.
Barrett’s appointment brings the total number of independent fund directors in Carne’s Cayman office to five. The group also announced it has recently moved to larger offices in the Grand Pavilion Commercial Centre as part of its ongoing expansion.
Peter Heaps, managing director of Carne in the Cayman Islands, says: “We’re very excited to have a fund director of Vanessa’s calibre joining our team. She will bring with her extensive knowledge of hedge funds operations to the boards she is appointed to. Her experience of the hedge funds industry, of corporate governance and the local requirements of fund boards will be of great value to our clients.”
John Donohoe, chief executive of Carne Group, says: “Carne’s policy is to limit the number of relationships each director takes on and provide a low volume, high involvement model. Hence, as demand for our services from fund managers and investors has grown, we are expanding our Cayman Islands presence commensurately. Vanessa’s arrival and the move to larger premises are the result of our appeal to clients with an interest in establishing first-class governance standards for their Cayman fund boards.”
Carne’s Cayman Islands office address remains unchanged.
