O’Shaughnessy Asset Management (OSAM), a quantitative money management firm with approximately USD7 billion in assets under management, has expanded its portfolio management team.

The firm also has appointed industry veteran Matt Waz to head up its new West Coast office, while awarding a series of internal promotions and equity partnerships.

Ehren Stanhope has been  promoted to Principal and Client Portfolio Manager; Manson Zhu has been promoted to Vice President and Research Analyst; and Pooja Shah assumes the new title of Associate and Research Analyst. All three came to the portfolio management team from other groups within the firm.

Frank Fitzgerald has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer from Director of Technology. The COO role was previously held by Chris Loveless, who is now Principal and President. In addition, Michael Hattrup has been promoted to Vice President, Institutional Sales and Client Service, with a primary focus on Taft-Hartley sales. Previously, he held a client service role at OSAM.

OSAM has also awarded additional equity to Fitzgerald, as well as Patrick O’Shaughnessy, Scott Bartone and Ashvin Viswanathan – all three are Principals and Portfolio Managers. The firm has also extended equity partnership to Stanhope and Raymond Amoroso, III, Principal and Chief Compliance Officer. With these two new appointments to equity partner, about one-third of OSAM’s employees are now equity partners.

“All of these moves are a reflection of the culture we have created and continue to cultivate at O’Shaughnessy Asset Management,” says Chris Loveless, Principal and President, OSAM. “We are dedicated to building a team that provides extraordinary service and counsel to our clients. In some cases, that means making key external hires. But we also remain committed to promoting from within and offering equity interest in our firm, because we recognise that this enables us to attract and retain the best people in the industry.”
