Candriam Investors Group, a European asset manager owned by New York Life Investment Management (NYLIM), has appointed César Zeitouni as head of long short equity.

"We are delighted to welcome César to the absolute performance management team, at a time when such expertise is being increasingly regarded by investors as a strategic investment,” says Fabrice Cuchet, head of alternative management at Candriam. "He is a highly experienced operator in the new technologies sector and in long short equity who has come to us to drive the launch of a new strategy in the field of the digitisation of the economy."

Zeitouni has worked for 22 years in the new technologies sector, where he was a consultant before becoming a fund manager. He started his career at Andersen Consulting, before becoming a management consultant at PwC’s telecommunications, media and new technologies group.

He returned to the asset management fold in 2001 to manage a long-only fund in the technology and telecom sectors at IT Asset Management. He then transferred to Exane AM in 2006, where he launched and co-managed a TNT equity market neutral fund and where, these past two years, he managed a long-short fund.

"I am delighted to be joining Candriam, a leader in absolute-performance management and renowned for its sectoral expertise in innovation-related funds,” says Zeitouni.
