Kettera Strategies, owner and operator of Hydra, an independent custody-based managed account platform, has appointed James Knoeck as chief financial officer.

Knoeck, 46, is the first person in this full-time position at Kettera and brings deep background as a senior financial services executive in the institutional investment, asset management and clearing businesses.

“Jim adds experience and depth to our executive team and will contribute greatly to the continued growth of Kettera and our Hydra platform,” says Jon Stein (pictured), Kettera CEO.

Stein says Knoeck’s arrival sends another signal to the marketplace that the Hydra platform is now “decidedly institutional grade”.

Knoeck joins Kettera from the Options Clearing Corporation where he was senior vice president and chief audit executive. Prior to that, he was internal audit director for the State of Wisconsin Investment Board. Previous roles include management positions at Man Group PLC/Man Investments (USA), UBS Global Asset Management (Americas), Guggenheim Management Partners and KPMG, all in Chicago.
