George Klavdianos, a Portfolio Manager who left Balyasny’s London office in December following reports of a $100m loss in a trading book he was leading, has joined Millennium Management as a Senior Portfolio Manager, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
Klavdianos, who spent three and a half years at Balyasny and prior to that, six and a half years at Citadel, joined Millennium earlier this month.
At Balayasny, Klavdianos served as Head of Event Driven Trading but left with his team after the strategy, which ran about 1% of Balyasny’s gross assets, suffered losses in long and short bets in Europe, as well as in short positions in the US, according tome report by Bloomberg at the time.
It’s not clear who was responsible for the loss, which may also have been linked to a US based credit portfolio manager at Balyasny, according to eFinancial Careers.
