100 Women in Hedge Funds (100WHF) held its annual gala in Italy on 18 November at Milan’s Palazzo Visconti to raise money to support project Edu Care, a project developed by Fondazione Zanetti Onlus (FZO) and SOS Villaggi dei Bambini Onlus (SVB).

The funds raised will be used to provide education and professional skills to young people in care and to encourage their social inclusion. The project will also assist young girls and single mothers in social and economic difficulties by providing equal education and employment opportunities.

The Gala’s special guest was Alena Seredova, ambassador of SOS Villaggi dei Bambini Onlus. The Duo Ferrandino-Guidi, an ensemble of chamber music formed by the pianist Sara Ferrandino and the mezzo-soprano Virginia Guidi, opened the gala with a program dedicated to female composers. Later in the evening, guests were entertained by a live auction by Christie's Renato Pennisi, Senior Specialist Post-War and Contemporary Art.

“Through this unique partnership, Fondazione Zanetti Onlus and SOS Villaggi dei Bambini Onlus have created a holistic program for young girls and single mothers with children in social and economic difficulties. With access to classes, skills-based workshops, health care, food and accommodation, the participants will be equipped to find employment and surpass the barriers usually faced by young women with limited education. We are excited to support two wonderful nonprofits that will have such a profound impact on the lives and futures of young women”, says Sophie Goodman (pictured) and Valentina Franceschini, Milano gala Co-Chairs.

Since its formation in 2001, 100WHF has raised more than USD38 million globally for philanthropic causes in the areas of Women's and Family Health, Education and Mentoring. 100WHF's three core pillars include industry education, peer leverage and philanthropy. The organisation’s philanthropic mission is to use its collective abilities and expertise in order to give back to the local community in an impactful way. 100WHF’s Board of Directors chooses beneficiaries on a rotating basis, and the global philanthropic theme for 2015 is Education and Next Generation.
