Neuberger Berman, a private, independent, employee-owned investment manager, has appointed Leen Meijaard, former Blackrock executive, as a senior advisor, effective 1 November.

Leen (pictured), will act as a consultant, advising on the Europe and Middle East institutional business, working with Dik van Lomwel, head of EMEA and LatAm.

Leen was a member of Blackrock’s EMEA executive committee for nearly a decade and held managing director roles at the firm, including most recently head of Blackrock EMEA iShares and previously head of Blackrock EMEA Institutional. Before joining Blackrock in 2002 he worked for Fidelity and Robeco.

Dik van Lomwel, head of EMEA and LatAm, says: “We are excited to be working with Leen as we continue to evolve our offering across Europe and the Middle East. He has a wealth of experience of the asset management and pension fund industries across EMEA. We will look to leverage his deep knowledge of the markets, local environments and extensive networks as we broaden our institutional reach.”

Meijaard says, “Neuberger Berman has established an impressive European institutional franchise, offering clients diversified investment capabilities. I look forward to working with the team to identify areas for amplification of its expertise and optimising the delivery of investment solutions to European clients.”
