Camilo Lyon has joined BTIG’s Research and Strategy division to launch coverage across the consumer sector, focusing on lifestyle and wellness brands.

He will be based in the firm’s New York office, and will report to David Lenchus, Director of Research at BTIG.

Lyon has more than 20 years of industry experience. He has spent the majority of his career covering the consumer sector inclusive of multi-national retail brands and emerging luxury, lifestyle, wellness and healthy living, fashion and beauty companies. Lyon has analysed companies within the sector for several global financial services firms. At BTIG, his coverage will focus on modern retail, health and wellness, and active lifestyle brands, where he will analyse company dynamics, sector trends and the competitive marketplace. His expertise represents a new area of coverage for BTIG within the firm’s growing consumer offering which today includes homebuilding and restaurants research.

“Camilo will be an important addition to our Consumer Equity Research team,” says Lenchus. “Lifestyle and wellness brands are an exciting new coverage area for us. We believe his understanding of both the mature and emerging, early-stage, high growth companies across the constantly evolving consumer landscape will help our institutional investors better navigate the market. Tracking consumer spending, investor behaviour and other cyclical and environmental trends across verticals will help clients make more informed investment decisions.”

Lyon joins BTIG’s Equity Research team as a Managing Director. Prior to BTIG, he was a Managing Director and the Head of US Consumer Research at Canaccord Genuity. Lyon also worked at Wedbush Securities and Bank of America Merrill Lynch covering consumer discretionary companies across hardlines, softlines, footwear and apparel. He began his finance career at Goldman Sachs. Lyon earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BS in business administration from Boston University.
