Point72 Asset Management, the hedge fund firm founded by Steve Cohen, now employs more than 100 people in Singapore having upped its headcount in the city state by more than 50% since early 2022, according to a report by the Straits Times.

The report cites unnamed sources familiar with the matter as revealing that the firm’s Singapore hiring spree picked up around the end of 2022 and has accelerated in the past six months.

The firm’s current Singapore head Rob Edmonton moved to the city state from Hong Kong in 2022, while more recent recruits include former Marshall Wace analyst Wei Lim who has joined the firm as a portfolio manager focusing on long-short equity.

Hong Kong remains Point72’s largest office in Asia, with Singapore in second place, followed by its Tokyo unit.
