2100 Xenon Group, an affiliate of Old Mutual Asset Management, has been selected by Russell Investments as one of the alternative asset managers in the newly launched Russell Multi-Strategy Alternative Fund.
"We are very proud to be among the group of alternatives managers selected by Russell," says Jay Feuerstein (pictured), founder and chief investment officer of 2100 Xenon. "Our goal is to provide a long volatility, absolute return profile that succeeds when traditional long only investment strategies suffer. We hope to achieve this goal through a managed futures strategy with a negative or low correlation to most equity, bond and hedge fund strategies."
2100 Xenon’s managed futures strategy is a systematic, diversified managed futures strategy that invests in global fixed income, equity, commodity and currency markets. The programme has an eight year track record and uses mathematical and statistical approaches to make investment decisions across 56 global futures markets.
"The growth of the managed futures asset class in the mutual funds space is hardly surprising given the aim of providing a transparent, liquid and uncorrelated source of alpha," says Bruce Mumford, partner and director of marketing and client services at 2100 Xenon. "Since the financial crisis of 2008, institutional investors have come to recognise that a tactical allocation to managed futures may provide broad and meaningful diversification to an overall investment portfolio."
