Jain Global hires Morgan Stanley high-yield trading chief for European credit push

Jain Global has hired Jon Stead, Morgan Stanley’s head of high-yield trading in London, in a move that could see the multi-strategy hedge fund expand its European credit trading operation, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.

Stead recently resigned from Morgan Stanley after leading its London high-yield trading business. Multiple sources have confirmed that he is joining Jain Global, although the hedge fund and Stead have not publicly commented on the move.

Stead is expected to help develop a European high-yield trading business at Jain, potentially opening the door to further recruitment from the banking sector as the hedge fund builds out its credit capabilities.

The appointment comes as Jain continues to strengthen a platform that was deliberately designed around multiple independent investment strategies. Founded by Bobby Jain, the former co-chief investment officer at Millennium Management, the firm launched in July 2024 with $5.3bn of capital.

Jain Global began with seven core investment areas spanning fundamental, quantitative and arbitrage equity strategies, alongside rates, macro and credit within fixed income, as well as an Asia-focused business. Jain has described the structure as a “seven-legged stool”, reflecting the firm’s aim of generating returns from a diversified collection of trading businesses.

The latest hiring points to further development of the credit leg of that platform.

Jain Global generated a 0.5% return during the second half of 2024 and gained 3.7% in 2025 as it continued deploying capital. The firm is reported to be up 3.9% so far in 2026.
