Optiver hires former Eisler exec

Amsterdam-based electronic trading firm Optiver has hired Alexis Le Montagner as a global strategy manager in London, bringing in an executive with experience expanding financial businesses across international markets, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.

Le Montagner joined Optiver this month after spending about 20 months at fintech Airwallex, where he was chief of staff to the chief executive and helped lead the company’s expansion into France and Israel.

His background also includes a two-year stint at hedge fund Eisler Capital, where he worked on the firm’s international growth strategy.

Le Montagner joined Eisler in London as director of strategy and business management, focusing on establishing the firm’s presence in new jurisdictions including Dubai, Jersey and Malta. He subsequently moved to Paris, where he helped expand the local operation and built the team to six portfolio managers.

He left Eisler in mid-2024, more than a year before the hedge fund shut down.

Before moving into strategy and business roles, Le Montagner spent around a decade as a derivatives trader at Commerzbank. He later earned an MBA and joined Boston Consulting Group as a consultant.

It is unclear whether his new role at Optiver will involve a similar international expansion remit. Optiver reportedly did not respond to a request for comment.
