Hedge funds extend inflow streak as SS&C Index Gains 0.83% in August

Hedge funds recorded another month of positive investor flows in September, extending their run of net inflows to eight consecutive months, according to the performance of SS&C Technologies’ latest GlobeOp indices.

The SS&C GlobeOp Capital Movement Index, which tracks net subscriptions and redemptions among funds administered on the SS&C GlobeOp platform, rose 0.65% in September. The increase takes the index to 133.10 points, up 5.50 points over the past 12 months.

The latest figures suggest investor appetite for hedge funds has remained resilient despite shifting market conditions, with diversification and risk-adjusted returns continuing to support allocations to the sector.

“SS&C GlobeOp’s Capital Movement Index for September 2026 was 0.65%, consistent with longer-term trends of positive flows for the period,” said Bill Stone, chairman and chief executive of SS&C Technologies. “This result marks eight straight months of positive inflows, indicating investors continue to value the diversification benefits, attractive risk-adjusted returns, and downside protection of hedge funds.”

Performance was also positive in August, with the SS&C GlobeOp Hedge Fund Performance Index posting a gross return of 0.83%.

The performance index is an asset-weighted measure of aggregate hedge fund returns across funds for which SS&C GlobeOp provides monthly administration services. It is designed to provide an early monthly indication of industry performance, with flash estimates released on the ninth business day of each month before subsequent interim and final figures are published.

The capital flows measure is based on actual subscriptions and redemptions processed by SS&C GlobeOp and expressed as a percentage of assets under administration on its fund administration platform. The September reading reflects a 0.65-point increase from August.

SS&C said the indices draw on a broad and representative pool of hedge fund assets, with individual fund information anonymised through aggregation. The data is based on reconciled fund information used by the administrator in producing fund net asset values.

The GlobeOp platform represents approximately 10% of estimated assets invested in the global hedge fund industry, according to SS&C, giving the indices a significant underlying pool of capital across a range of investment strategies.

The company’s Capital Movement Index is scheduled for its next update on 13 October.
