One of Deutsche Bank’s top hedge fund salespeople, Ryan Bouchikhi, is set to leave the German lender for a hedge fund. While his new employer hasn’t been confirmed, a report by eFinancial Careers has suggested it could be Balyasny Asset Management.
Bouchikhi joined Deutsche Bank in 2023 as a director in rates sales after more than a decade at UBS, and is widely regarded as a key figure in building out DB’s euro swaps franchise in London. Insiders say he was one of the team’s major revenue generators, making his departure a significant loss.
While Deutsche Bank is understood to have tried to retain him, hedge funds – and Balyasny in particular – have been willing to pay aggressively to secure top trading and sales talent. In June, Balyasny hired Jamie Mansell, DB’s former head of European government bond trading, who reportedly generated around €200m in profits during his tenure.
It is not yet clear what role Bouchikhi will take at the multi-strategy hedge fund, though industry sources suggest a possible move into a business management or COO-type position rather than a direct trading role.
