Acadian Asset Management (UK) Ltd, the London-based subsidiary of Boston-based, quantitative hedge fund management company Acadian Asset Management, has appointed Mark Roemer (pictured), as Portfolio Manager in the London office.

In this role, Roemer will be part of the core portfolio management team and responsible for aiding the development of Acadian’s investment process, drawing upon his quantitative capabilities and knowledge of global equity markets. His experience in developing and implementing new strategies will aid in the continued progress of Acadian’s investment offering, which spans Equity, Long/Short and Managed Volatility strategies.

Roemer has over twenty years of investing experience and joins Acadian from Allianz Global Investors, where he served as a Director and Portfolio Manager. At Allianz, Roemer was responsible for several systematic equity strategies, with a particular focus on small caps and helped manage the firm’s quantitative research process. Prior to joining Allianz, Roemer was a US Equity Product Manager at Barclays Global Investors.

“Mark’s extensive equity market experience, particularly in Small-Mid Cap strategies, complements Acadian’s existing offering and allows us to grow our European-based capabilities to ensure we continue to deliver to our global client base,” says Kelly Young, Managing Director of Acadian Asset Management (UK) Ltd. “We are delighted to welcome Mark to our team in London, where his breadth of experience across portfolio management, equity research and client servicing will enable him to be a key resource for our institutional clients across Europe.”

Roemer says, “Acadian is well known for its thought leadership in the investment industry and has consistently been at the vanguard of research in quantitative asset management. I greatly admire Acadian’s collegial culture and look forward to contributing to Acadian’s future success as a member of the team.”
