Trian Fund Management, the activist hedge fund run by Nelson Peltz, has acquired a stake in Unilever Plc, according to the Financial Times and Reuters.

The British consumer goods manufacturer, whose brands include Dove soap, Carte D’Or ice-cream, and Hellman’s Mayonnaise, abandoned its GBP50 billion (USD68 billion) pursuit of GlaxoSmithKline’s consumer healthcare business earlier this month.

Trian prefers to portray itself as an investment partner to the companies it invests in rather than a corporate raider and often presents its operational fixes through white papers.
