Arrowpoint targets $400m capital raise

Related Topics

Arrowpoint Investment Partners is seeking to raise up to $400m by the first quarter of 2026 as the multi-strategy hedge fund scales its platform and adds new investment teams, according to a report by Bloomberg citing an unnamed person familiar with the matter.

The Singapore- and Hong Kong-based firm, founded by former Millennium Asia co-CEO Jonathan Xiong, is opening to fresh commitments for the first time since October. Backing from existing and new investors would lift assets from $1.2bn to as much as $2bn by the end of 2026, with some commitments already secured.

Arrowpoint, which counts CPPIB, Blackstone and a Temasek unit among its anchor investors, began trading in July 2024 and has returned 7.3% in the first eight months of 2025, including a 3% August gain. Recent performance has been driven by Asian currency and rates trades, according to the person.

The firm is building out its macro capabilities, with Citigroup veteran You Jiong set to become its ninth Asia macro portfolio manager later this month. He will focus on China, and Arrowpoint has agreed to back him should he launch his own fund in the future. Other recent hires include Wei Wei from Astignes Capital and former Brevan Howard manager Jacky Yeung.

The additions bring Arrowpoint’s pod count to 21, a 20% increase since the end of last year, with three further portfolio managers signed to start in the coming months.

The expansion comes as investor appetite for multi-strategy hedge funds has softened, with Goldman Sachs data showing combined assets at 55 such firms fell for the first time in seven years through June 2024. Arrowpoint and other Asia-based pod shops such as Dymon Asia and Polymer Capital are pitching their regional focus as a differentiator in a crowded market.
