Former Millennium Management money manager Sameer Garg has joined Caxton Associates to work in macro and cross asset volatility trading in Dubai, as part of the global macro hedge fund firm’s expansion plans in the emirate, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The report cites an unnamed person familiar with the matter as confirming that Garg has joined as a Portfolio Manager and will work with former Barclays executive Sanchit Jain, who joined Caxton in 2022 and moved to Dubai last year as CEO and Portfolio Manager of the firm’s Dubai office.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Garg previously worked with Nomura in Singapore and Miras Investments in Dubai.
Founded by Bruce Kovner in New York in 1983 and currently led by CIO Andrew Law, Caxton is among a number of hedge funds including Millennium and Brevan Howard Asset Management that are currently building out their Middle East operations. The firm specialises in macro trading based on economic trends.
