Citadel taps Farallon Capital MD

Related Topics

Hedge fund titan Citadel, led by billionaire Ken Griffin, has recruited Gregory Hayday from Farallon Capital Management, marking the firm’s latest move to secure top-tier talent, according to a report by Bloomberg citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.

Hayday, based in London, has been with Farallon since 2013, serving as a Managing Director, according to Farallon’s website. Before joining the firm, he held roles at Blackstone and Morgan Stanley, showcasing his deep expertise in investment management.

Neither Hayday nor Citadel commented on the hire, and Farallon did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Citadel, which has been aggressively expanding its global operations, is no stranger to high-profile hires. The firm has intensified competition within the hedge fund industry by attracting top talent from rival firms and banks.

Last year, Nabeel Bhanji, a partner at Elliott Investment Management, joined Citadel in a significant industry move.

Additionally, Citadel, which manages more than $50bn in assets, recently bolstered its international equities team with three London-based portfolio managers, including Vadim Tsipenyuk.
