Hedge fund Citadel has appointed Benjamin McRoberts, formerly Goldman Sachs’ EMEA head of commodities strategies, as head of European power engineering in its London office, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
McRoberts spent over a decade at Goldman Sachs, where he advanced from VP to MD. He gained wider recognition in 2023 for leading a top-performing team in Midnight Madness, a high-profile puzzle-solving charity event popular with banking and hedge fund professionals.
His move comes amid Citadel’s expansion in power trading. The firm recently acquired German energy trading company FlexPower and brought in power trader Tom Nutt for a London partner role, underscoring the growth of its power division.
