The Credit Suisse LAB Index was up 4.17% in October, according to Dr Jordan Drachman, Head of Research for Alternative Beta Strategies at Credit Suisse.
Drachman says: "The Credit Suisse Liquid Alternative Beta Index (CSLAB), which aims to reflect the performance of the overall hedge fund industry, finished up 4.17% in October, indicating hedge funds regained some of the losses experienced in the third quarter. The Event Driven sector saw the most significant gains, finishing up 7.80% as managers increased exposure to high conviction investments during dislocations. Meanwhile, the Managed Futures strategy fell 4.42% for the month as trends reversed against many long term positions."
