Spectrum Group Management, an investor in the distressed, special situations and secured lending credit markets, has appointed David D.R. Bullock as senior vice president.

Bullock will take on a senior role in the firm’s corporate distressed investment business.

"We are delighted to be joined by an experienced investor of David’s calibre," says Spectrum’s founder and managing partner, Jeffrey A. Schaffer. "I have known David for many years and have worked closely with him on several investments. He will play an important role in augmenting the firm’s corporate distressed investment business."

Bullock joins Spectrum from Advent Capital Management, where he was a managing director responsible for most of the firm’s investments in distressed and special situation securities and bank loans. During his tenure at Advent, and in the course of his career as a distressed investor, Bullock has served on numerous creditor committees, including General Motors Acceptance Corporation.

Prior to joining Advent, Bullock served as a senior member of Barclays Capital’s proprietary trading desk. He began his career as an analyst in Smith Barney’s corporate finance department, and subsequently spent eight years at Merrill Lynch where he headed the firm’s mid-cap investment banking group.
