Deutsche Bank has teamed up with Omega Advisors to launch a new fund in December on its dbalternatives UCITS platform (which also supports managed accounts and ETF products). Entitled the DB Platinum Omega Fund, it will be managed by Leon Cooperman (pictured), the chairman and CEO of Omega. Cooperman founded US-based Omega Advisors in 1991. It currently manages approximately USD5.8billion of assets. Prior to setting up the firm, Cooperman was chairman and CEO of Global Sachs Asset Management. Cooperman currently runs Omega Overseas Partners, Ltd., an equity l/s strategy that focuses on US mid- and large-cap equities. Tarun Nagpal, Deusche Bank’s European head of fund derivatives, said that partnering up with Cooperman represented “another key milestone” for the bank. “We are confident that Leon’s expertise and longstanding success will make the planned fund attractive to investors,” said Nagpal. In total, dbalternatives has more than USD12billion in assets across managed accounts, UCITS and ETF products.
