Jason Genrich, a partner and senior portfolio manager at Elliott Investment Management, has left the activist hedge fund after more than a decade, according to a report by Reuters citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.
Elliott informed clients on Friday that Genrich, who led many of the firm’s investments across the technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) sectors, has stepped down from the business. He will remain a consultant to the firm until mid-2026, the sources said.
Genrich joined Elliott in 2014 and rose to become one of the firm’s most senior investment professionals, playing a central role in several high-profile activist and private equity-style transactions. His work included Elliott’s investment in Hewlett Packard Enterprise in early 2025 and a multi-year activist campaign at communications infrastructure group Crown Castle, where he continues to serve on the board.
He was also part of the Elliott team that partnered with Vista Equity Partners to take enterprise software company Citrix Systems private in 2022, one of the firm’s most significant technology transactions in recent years.
Neither Elliott nor Genrich commented on the departure, and Genrich’s future plans have not yet been disclosed.
