ERI Scientific Beta names executive management team

ERI Scientific Beta, the smart beta index provider offshoot of EDHEC-Risk Institute, has named its international executive team covering the ERI Scientific Beta locations in Boston, London, Nice, Paris, Singapore and Tokyo.

Noël Amenc, PhD, is member of the ERI Scientific Beta management board and CEO. Professor of finance at EDHEC Business School, where he heads EDHEC-Risk Institute, Amenc has conducted active research in the fields of quantitative equity management, portfolio performance analysis, and active asset allocation, resulting in numerous academic and practitioner articles and books. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Portfolio Management, associate editor of the Journal of Alternative Investments, and member of the advisory board of the Journal of Index Investing. He is also a member of the Monetary Authority of Singapore Finance Research Council, and the Consultative Working Group of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) Financial Innovation Standing Committee.
 
Lionel Martellini, PhD, is member of the ERI Scientific Beta management board and senior scientific advisor. Professor of finance at EDHEC Business School and scientific director of EDHEC-Risk Institute, Martellini is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Portfolio Management and the Journal of Alternative Investments. An expert in quantitative asset management and derivatives valuation, his work has been widely published in academic and practitioner journals and he has co-authored textbooks on alternative investment strategies and fixed-income securities.
 
Patrice Retkowsky is member of the ERI Scientific Beta management board and head of production. Retkowsky was formerly a senior research engineer with EDHEC-Risk Institute, having previously been responsible for the management of the institute's information technology infrastructure.
 
Reynald Mauguin is member of the ERI Scientific Beta management board and head of operations, IT infrastructure and the data quality assurance programme. Mauguin is an information systems engineer. For 15 years he worked on the deployment of portfolio management software at ATOS Wordline.
 
Mélanie Ruiz is member of the ERI Scientific Beta management board and head of client services. Her responsibilities with ERI Scientific Beta cover all of the client support and service operations for the Scientific Beta platform worldwide, with a support team based in Nice (France), Singapore and Boston.
 
Candice Lebastard is member of the ERI Scientific Beta management board and head of data acquisition. Lebastard began her career as a client and then sales trainer. After eight years at Thomson Reuters, she became a market data buyer at Societe Generale. Based on the Nice campus, Lebastard is a member of the applied research team, where she is responsible for legal and data management.
 
Felix Goltz, PhD is member of the ERI Scientific Beta management board and head of research. Goltz carries out research in empirical finance and asset allocation, with a focus on alternative investments and indexing strategies. His work has appeared in various international academic and practitioner journals and handbooks.
 
Peter O’Kelly is member of the ERI Scientific Beta management board and head of marketing and communications. The marketing team is responsible for communications, publishing (newsletters, supplements and publications), organisation of events (seminars and webinars), press relations, advertising, contact management and marketing relations with partners.
 
ERI Scientific Beta has also announced the line-up of its international business development and product support team.
 
Erik Christiansen, CFA is business development manager, Europe with ERI Scientific Beta. Christiansen was previously deputy director in the intellectual property division of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC), the French sovereign wealth fund, and head of investment strategy with the Etablissement de Retraite Additionnelle de la Fonction Publique (ERAFP), the mandatory pension scheme for French civil servants, where he was responsible for a EUR1.7bn equity portfolio.
 
Marc Zieger is business development director, North America with ERI Scientific Beta. He was previously sales and business development director for North America and Japan with Morningstar Investment Management in Chicago, having worked for several years in senior positions in capital markets in Switzerland and Germany.
 
Paul Hoff is business development director, Asia-Pacific with ERI Scientific Beta. Hoff heads the Japan office and is responsible for the introduction of ERI Scientific Beta across the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia. Hoff is a long time resident of Japan and has held positions in the Asian finance industry since 1982. He spent much of his career with the HSBC Japan operations and recently headed the Asia-Pacific operations of the London Stock Exchange’s index subsidiary.
 
Eric Shirbini, PhD, is global product specialist with ERI Scientific Beta. Prior to joining EDHEC-Risk Institute, Shirbini was a quantitative analyst at UBS, BNP Paribas and Nomura International. During this time he worked on a diverse range of topics including multi-factor models, fundamental stock valuation, equity market indices, portfolio construction and portfolio trading.
