London-based hedge fund LMR Partners has strengthened its equities business by hiring Andy Hill, formerly head of trading at ExodusPoint, as its new head of European equities trading, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
Hill brings extensive experience from seven years at ExodusPoint and a decade at both Balyasny Asset Management and Millennium Management.
The hire comes amid a period of turbulence for LMR, which suffered losses in September after a leveraged mortgage strategy led by star trader Andrew Berger unwound, erasing year-to-date gains of around $100m. Despite this setback, other teams at LMR, including its convertible bonds desk, are performing strongly, on track for record gains of 30% in 2025.
LMR has continued to expand its equities talent, with recent hires including Oliver Briars from Point72, who previously worked at Citadel, and portfolio manager Ediz Karahasonoglu, formerly head of emerging markets equities trading at Goldman Sachs.
