Three former Highland Capital Management partners have launched Sycamore Tree Capital Partners, a new alpha-focused private and alternative credit investment manager which aims to tap into value-oriented opportunities arising from credit market upheaval.
The Dallas-headquartered firm is co-founded by alt-credit veterans Mark Okada, who will serve as CEO; Jack Yang, the firm’s president and head of business development; and chief investment officer Trey Parker.
Sycamore Tree, which also has an office in New York, will initially focus on traded credit, structured products and special situations, drawing on the trio’s “deep experience across multiple cycles”.

The European Energy Exchange (EEX) will expand its product range on the derivatives market with new Futures Style Margin Options for EEX power, gas and emissions futures.EEX has been successfully offering Equity Style Margin Options for several of its products for many years and will now add Futures Style Margin Options to its product portfolio. On 7 December 2020, EEX will introduce the new options on the emissions market and support the offering with a fee holiday. New analysis from ETF provider GraniteShares, which offers a range of 3x short and 3x leveraged ETPs on popular UK and US stocks, reveals that as of 13 November 2020, Cineworld Group, the world’s second-largest cinema chain, was the most shorted UK listed company. Some 9.51 per cent of its stock was held short by 10 investment firms, with Adelphi Capital having the largest short position with 2.07 per cent of the company’s shares.
