Vanguard has launched the Vanguard Commodity Strategy Fund (VCMDX) for investors seeking low-cost exposure to the commodities market.  The fund will be offered in Admiral Shares, with an estimated expense ratio of 0.20per cent, which is one-sixth the 1.24per cent average expense ratio of competing broad-based commodity-linked funds.   Vanguard Commodity Strategy Fund employs an actively managed approach and seeks to offer diversification to a traditional stock/bond portfolio and a hedge against inflation by investing in a mix of Treasury bills (T-bills) and short-term treasury inflation-protected securities (TIPS). The SS&C GlobeOp Forward Redemption Indicator for June 2019 measured 3.81 per cent, up from 3.21 per cent in April. “SS&C GlobeOp’s Forward Redemption Indicator of 3.81 per cent for June 2019 reflects lower redemptions compared to 4.17 per cent reported for the same period a year ago for June 2018,” says Bill Stone, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, SS&C Technologies. “This marks the third consecutive month of improved year-over-year readings for redemption notices, indicating strong investor confidence in hedge fund managers’ ability to provide attractive risk-adjusted returns in the face of highly volatile markets.” The SS&C GlobeOp Forward Redemption Indicator
The Eurekahedge Hedge Fund Index was down 0.71 per cent in May, bringing its year-to-date return to 4.32 per cent. Roughly 15.0 per cent of the hedge fund managers comprising the index have recorded double-digit gains over the first five months of the year. The global hedge fund industry AUM has grown by USD0.5 billion as of May 2019 year-to-date. Nomura Alternative Investment Management (NAIM), a London and Paris-based quantitative investment manager within Nomura Group has launched the Nomura Diversified Absolute Return UCITS Fund. The Fund aims to deliver absolute returns with a low volatility profile (close to 3 per cent pa), low correlation to traditional asset classes and low drawdowns. PEGAS, the pan-European gas trading platform of EEX Group, operated by Powernext, has introduced spot and futures contracts for the Spanish Virtual Balancing Point (PVB). Physical spot products (Within-Ahead, Day-Ahead and Week-End contracts) and physically delivered futures contracts (Month, Quarter, Season and Calendar Year products) are now available for trading and will lead to the delivery of natural gas at the PVB hub, which is operated by ENAGAS. All transactions are cleared through European Commodity Clearing, the central clearing house of the EEX Group.
