MFS Investment Management has launched the MFS Meridian Funds – Managed Wealth Fund, a global long/short equity fund that seeks total returns with less volatility than the broad global equity market by using a tactical asset allocation overlay.

Quaero Capital’s Real Assets fund has been made available in a UCITS wrapper following a three year ‘incubation’ period. The ‘Argos Real Assets Fund’ invests primarily in equities and REITs in developed markets across the world.
The fund, which provides exposure to four key sub-classes: Infrastructure, Real Estate, Forestry Assets and Agricultural Assets, was launched in 2012 and is run by veteran investor Marc Ebert, and is an actively managed, conservative, long-only, thematic equity fund.

Markit has launched a new service that enables banks to affirm FX trades executed by inter dealer brokers. Seven inter dealer brokers and eight banks have signed to use the service, which expands Markit’s centralised solutions for the FX market.
Affirming over the counter trades through a centralised service reduces operational risk and replaces paper or voice based processes to check the accuracy of trade data. The MarkitSERV FX Broker Affirmation service provides a platform for banks to consolidate trade notifications from multiple inter dealer brokers and validate transaction data before they are processed into trading and risk systems.

This is the first time that derivatives on Indian sector indices are being launched outside India.
SGX will list four USD-denominated index futures contracts based on IISL’s sector indices, specifically the SGX Nifty Bank Index Futures, SGX Nifty IT Index Futures, SGX Nifty CPSE Index Futures and SGX Nifty Midcap 50 Index Futures.

The hedge fund industry improved on losses of 2.69 per cent in January, but still posted negative performance of -0.06 per cent in February, according to figures released by Preqin.
Macro strategies posted the greatest gains (0.55 per cent) and are the only leading hedge fund strategy to hold a positive 2016 year-to-date return (0.88 per cent). In comparison, credit strategies continued to struggle, recording their fourth consecutive month of negative returns with losses of 0.86 per cent. 2016 YTD performance for the strategy is now at -1.92 per cent.
