Linedata has partnered with NetWorth Services to offer Linedata Admin Edge clients access to NetBasis, NetWorth’s automated solution for the calculation and reporting to the IRS of the adjusted cost basis of sold mutual funds.  NetBasis will automatically interface with Linedata Mshare transfer agency system, drawing on the data required to determine the adjusted cost basis for mutual funds. Linedata Mshare forms a key part of the Linedata Admin Edge platform, an end-to-end fund administration solution for third party administrators, mutual funds, hedge funds and liquid alternative funds.   The automation of these processes will enable Linedata Admin Edge users
The number of alternative asset managers grew by 15 per cent in the third quarter of 2015, according to a new report from Convergence, the  Q3 update on the State of the Union of the Alternative Asset Management Industry. The report, which focuses on business trends amongst alternative asset managers, related assessments of changes in operating complexity and risk, and changes in operating productivity, uses data sourced from SEC filings and enriched to provide a unique view into the infrastructure of over 16,000 RIA's. The lead investor, Toscafund, a London based hedge-fund with over 20 years of experience backing fast-growth SMEs in sectors typically undergoing structural change, has put forward GBP14 million in investment, with the additional GBP2 million being co-led by existing and new investors, many investing for the third time. After a dip in October, CTA strategies posted positive returns across the board in November 2015, and Newedge’s CTA and Trend indices are are showing a positive year-to-date performance. The Newedge CTA index was up 2.71 per cent in November bringing year-to-date performance back into positive territory, to 1.44 per cent.   Short Term Traders Index returns also produced significantly positive returns of 2.37 per cent, marking the best return since January this year.     Trend followers led performance in November, with the Newedge Trend Index ending up 3.41 per cent. Nasdaq is to acquire Chi-X Canada, an Alternative Trading System for Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and TSX Venture Securities, from Chi-X Global.   The acquisition will provide Nasdaq with direct access to the Canadian equities market. The ECB decided to take additional easing steps on December 3rd, but as we feared the measures did not meet market expectations. As a result, equity and bond markets sold off in Europe, with global contagion effects on risk assets. The EURUSD bounced back while commodities rose as a result of a falling USD. The latter was also related to a testimony by J Yellen expressing a gradual approach to Fed rate hikes.
