Paris-based investment manager, Bernheim Dreyfus, ventured into the Newcits space last week by launching a UCITS III-compliant fund that will focus on mergers and acquisitions.
Merchant Capital Limited, the financial services division of Merchant House Group plc, is set to launch five new funds on its Dublin-domiciled, UCITS III umbrella structure.   Five investment managers from around the world, all specialising in alternative investing, have chosen the Merchant Funds’ platform to launch their first UCITS III-compliant funds. The new funds, which are due to launch before 1 September 2011, will each have between USD25m to USD100m of assets under management. Skandia Investment Group (SIG)’s flagship multi-asset fund, Skandia Diversified and its Skandia Alternative Investments Fund, have invested in the Aviva Investors Index Opportunities High Alpha Fund. The investment into the Aviva Investors Index Opportunities High Alpha fund sees SIG’s GBP2.1bn* suite of multi-asset and alternative funds, further diversifying the investment strategies utilised within their alternative allocations.  A survey report released today by RBC Dexia and KPMG predicts that hedge fund managers will continue to create EU-domiciled hedge funds to complement their Cayman Islands or other offshore offerings, but that the QIFs and SIFs were gaining popularity versus the UCITS framework.
