Global Prime Partners (GPP) has appointed Mike Ward as head of new business development.
Ward (pictured) arrives from Nomura where he was co-head of EMEA equities. Prior to this he was head of equity sales, EMEA at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Ward brings with him a wealth of experience across global markets product lines and a deep understanding of EMEA-based clients.
Ward’s first business initiative at GPP is to expand its offering with the launch of a structured product division during the first quarter of 2017, initially for UK onshore clients, capitalising on GPP’s core strengths in client service, technology and execution. The service will give clients streamlined access to the best issuers of structured products combined with bespoke technology and tailored customer service.
Ward is joined by the following senior appointments – Matt Robinson joining as head of structured product sales and Ross Trotman as head of structuring.
Robinson has almost 25 years’ experience serving UK onshore clients in derivatives-based structured securities and funds, most recently at the broker Catley Lakeman. Previously he held senior sales positions at Morgan Stanley, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and BNP Paribas.
Trotman joins from Hartmoor, a specialist structured product provider, having previously spent eight years at Investec Bank as a senior structurer. He will be instrumental in building out GPP’s product suite, processes and proprietary technology.
Julian Parker, chief executive of GPP, says: “We have seen record growth this year and are well positioned to broaden our product lines and customer base. Structured products complement our existing execution, clearing, custody and prime brokerage businesses and will leverage off our client service infrastructure. We are delighted that individuals of the calibre of Mike, Matt and Ross have been attracted to the exciting opportunities offered at GPP.”
