Gresham House, a specialist asset manager focused on alternative investment strategies, has appointed Michael Hart to the newly created role of Head of Distribution.

Hart has over 20 years’ experience in both traditional and alternative asset management. Most recently he served as Global Head of Business Development at Amundi Alternative Investments. Prior to this he was Global Head of Business Development for Aberdeen Asset Management’s alternative solutions division. Michael also spent over ten years at investment consultants Bfinance. He has an in-depth understanding of investor requirements which has led to a strong network of institutional clients, sovereign wealth funds, government organisations and global investment consultants.

Hart will be responsible for distribution across Gresham House’s various alternative products including Strategic Public Equity, Private Equity and Real Assets divisions. He will also be responsible for developing Gresham House’s newly established “long term investment solutions” business for institutional investors, including local government and corporate pension schemes, endowments and family offices. The first long term investment solutions fund expected to be launched this summer will be the British Strategic Investment Fund, with Berkshire Pension Fund as a cornerstone investor.

The appointment is effective 5 June 2017. Hart reports directly to Rupert Robinson, Managing Director, Gresham House Asset Management.

Robinson says: “We are pleased to have attracted someone of Michael’s quality to lead our distribution activity. He is joining Gresham House at a particularly important time in our development following the announcement of our proposed acquisition of Hazel Capital, the specialist new energy infrastructure manager, and the forthcoming launch of the British Strategic Investment Fund which will target long term institutional investment in housing and infrastructure across the UK.”

Hart says: “I am excited to join Gresham House and to help deliver the next phase of growth. The Company’s specialism in alternative investment strategies makes it well positioned to benefit from increasing capital allocations by institutions and families. I look forward to working closely with our clients to deliver attractive long term customised investment solutions and enhanced service.”
