Harvest Volatility Management bolsters ‘40 Act Investment Products team

Derivative asset management firm Harvest Volatility Management (Harvest) has bolstered its ‘40 Act Investment Products team with the addition of two seasoned executives from Horizons ETFs Management, Garrett Paolella, former Managing Director and the Head of ETFs, and Troy Cates, former Managing Director and Head of Trading.

Paolella has joined Harvest as Managing Director, responsible for bringing new strategies to the public market in the form of ETFs, open-end funds, closed-end funds and UCITs vehicles. Cates serves as Executive Director, and will work alongside Paolella in developing new strategies.
 
Harvest expanded its investment platform in January 2018, launching three mutual funds: Harvest Edge Absolute (NASDAQ: HEANX; NASDAQ: HEAIX), Harvest Edge Equity (NASDAQ: HEENX; NASDAQ: HEEIX) and Harvest Edge Bond (NASDAQ: HEBNX; NASDAQ: HEBIX).

At Horizons ETFs Management, Paolella was responsible for all aspects of the US ETF business and a member of firm’s Investment Committee. Previously, Paolella was Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer at Recon Capital, where he led the firm’s Investment Committee, served as a portfolio manager for the firm’s ETFs, closed end funds, SMAs, and developed new business lines and strategies.
 
As Head of Trading and a Portfolio Manager at Horizons ETFs Management, Cates was a member of the firm’s Investment Committee, oversaw the daily portfolio management, and served as a member of the Product Development team. Previously, Cates was a Partner, the Head of Trading and member of the Investment Committee at Recon Capital, where he oversaw portfolio management and trading for the exchange traded funds, closed end funds and separately managed accounts.
