All major hedge fund strategies have seen overall inflows in the first quarter of 2022, according to a report from Pensions & Investments.
Hedge funds had total inflows of $19.8 billion in the first quarter, the highest level since the second quarter of 2015 when net asset inflows totaled $21.5 billion, according to HFR.
That compares with asset outflows of $8.9 billion in the fourth quarter 2021 and net inflows of $6.1 billion in the first quarter 2021.
Estimated total hedge fund industry assets fell by just 0.1% to $4.002 trillion in the quarter ended 31 March, from $4.008 trillion in the quarter ended 31 December.
All four of the hedge fund strategy categories HFR tracks had net inflows in the first quarter, led by event-driven with $12.8 billion; macro at $3 billion; relative value at $2.2 billion; and equity hedge at $1.9 billion.
