HSBC hires former Millennium PM to lead CEEMEA EM Rates

Related Topics

HSBC has strengthened its macro trading capabilities with the appointment of Joseph Mouwad as Head of CEEMEA Emerging Markets Rates Trading in London, marking a return to the City for the seasoned Portfolio Manager and Trader, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.

Mouwad most recently spent a year at Millennium in Paris as a senior portfolio manager before taking a ten-month hiatus to operate as a private investor. His appointment at HSBC comes after a long career spanning both the buy and sell side, with previous roles at Carmignac, Caxton, and major investment banks.

At Carmignac, Mouwad managed fixed income portfolios with mandates of up to €400m, gaining a reputation as a skilled macro and emerging markets specialist. Earlier in his career, he held trading roles at Barclays, JPMorgan, and Deutsche Bank, where he served as a director overseeing EM rates and long-dated FX options trading.

His hire follows the departure of Andrew Dinnis, HSBC’s previous CEEMEA head of EM rates, who exited earlier this year after bonuses to join an unnamed hedge fund.

HSBC declined to comment on the appointment.
