I2BF, an asset management group focused on renewable energy and clean technology, has appointed Denis Chigirev as head of quantitative research.
Chigirev has a Princeton PhD in theoretical physics, is an International Physics Olympiad Silver Medal winner, and an alumni of McKinsey.
He will be managing a three-person team, focused on systematic testing of current models and developing new strategies.
Ilya Golubovich, managing partner of I2BF, says: "We are refining our statistical arbitrage strategy for the renewable energy universe, as well as adapting it to alternative universes. Because our investments are based on mathematical models, we need deeper quantitative expertise and Denis provides a huge amount of experience and knowledge.”
I2BF aims to use the untapped mathematical potential of Russian students and professors and apply their knowledge to financial and economic modelling.
Chigirev says: "I2BF is always rigorously testing investment models to ensure the best long-term performance for our investors. I look forward to working with such an innovative team and across a range of interesting products."
The I2BF Arbat Clean Technology Fund was launched in November 2008 and has returned over 40 per cent since inception.
