Ken Griffin is donating $26 million to help complete the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, a $450 million project in Medora, North Dakota, set to open on July 4, according to a report by Bloomberg.

The Citadel founder and Citadel Securities chief is joining other billionaire backers, including Harold Hamm and Rob Walton, in supporting the library, which aims to highlight Roosevelt’s leadership, conservation efforts and public service legacy.

The museum will feature interactive exhibits, including an AI-powered version of Roosevelt designed to answer visitors’ questions, along with recreations of important moments from his life, such as his Manhattan home and Rough Riders military experiences.

Griffin said Roosevelt represented qualities including courage, vision and commitment to the country. The donation is part of a broader push by Griffin to support American history and civic education ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

The library, designed by architecture firm Snøhetta, was built to blend into the surrounding Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Its west wing will be named after Griffin in recognition of his contribution.

The project has also received major backing from North Dakota and other private donors, with the library securing a $50 million state endowment and $100 million in private fundraising.
