January data from Eurekahedge reveals that hedge funds started the year up 0.87 per cent in January with managers reporting performance-based gains of USD1.3 billion. Investor subscriptions stood at USD1.2 billion during the start of the year. In annual year 2016, final asset flow figures show that manager saw redemptions totalling USD55.1 billion while performance-based gains stood at USD35.1 billion over the same period. STOXX Ltd, the operator of Deutsche Boerse Group’s index business and a provider of tradable index concepts, has launched the EURO STOXX 50 Corporate Bond Sector, Rating and Maturity Bucket Sub-Indices. They expand the EURO STOXX 50 Corporate Bond Index, which was launched in April and is the fixed income equivalent of the EURO STOXX 50, including the bonds of the blue-chip companies in the Eurozone.   The new sub-indices represent certain maturity buckets, industries and rating classes. Nasdaq and Borse Dubai have signed an agreement to bolster the technological infrastructure of Dubai’s stock exchanges, Dubai Financial Market (DFM) and Nasdaq Dubai, and improve post-trade practices. Northern Trust to acquire UBS Asset Management's fund administration servicing units in Luxembourg and Switzerland, expanding its presence in the former and gaining local fund administration capabilities in the latter. The latest Hedge Fund Tracker analysis from S&P Global Market Intelligence shows the top funds managed approximately USD153 billion in equity holdings, an increase from the USD145 billion under management in Q3.  However, because these funds saw a slight drop in the total number of positions to 420 from 424 in Q3, the increase in assets under management is more than likely due to the end-of-year equity market rally. SoftBank Group (SoftBank or SBG) is to acquire Fortress Investment Group (Fortress) in a cash deal worth approximately USD3.3 billion. CBOE Holdings expects to complete its acquisition of  Bats Global Markets on 28 February, 2017.
