ECN broker Tickmill has added contracts for difference (CFDs) – a derivative product that gives opportunity to make money from both falling and rising markets – to its diverse product line.
CFDs have no expiry date allowing traders to hold their positions for as long as they wish.

The hedge fund industry produced an aggregate return of positive 1.93% in February, the industry’s best monthly performance since February of last year, according to eVestment’s latest Hedge Fund Performance report.
The primary driver of hedge fund returns in February were rising equity markets, highlighted by the S&P 500’s best month in more than three years.
Every major hedge fund strategy posted positive returns for the month of February, with activist funds leading the industry and managed futures lagging, but still positive. February’s returns erased any remnants of January’s losses from primary strategies.

TMF Group has agreed with the management team of its fund services division, TMF Custom House, the creation of an independent, stand-alone Custom House Fund Services.
The heads of terms was signed at the end of 2014 with Mark Hedderman (CEO of Custom House, prior to its purchase by TMF Group) and James Osborne (a long-time Director of Custom House) to purchase TMF Group’s Fund Services business. The transaction will now be submitted for regulatory approval.

ICE Futures US has reported record daily volume in the mini MSCI futures complex as well as futures based on MSCI’s benchmark for international equity performance, the mini MSCI EAFE index, which tracks equities in developed markets in Europe and Asia.
Total volume in mini MSCI products traded on ICE Futures US was 395,175 contracts on 16 March, 2015. The previous record of 364,483 contracts was set on 16 December, 2014. Volume in mini MSCI EAFE index futures was 150,140. The previous record of 139,164 was set on 12 September, 2014.

BATS Global Markets (BATS) has completed its acquisition of Hotspot FX, an institutional foreign exchange (FX) market, from KCG Holdings.
The transaction was announced January 28th and received Hart-Scott-Rodino clearance from the US Department of Justice on 18 February. Hotspot will continue to be led by Bill Goodbody, Jr, who has managed the entity since 2008. He and the rest of the New York-area Hotspot team will be based in the BATS office in lower Manhattan.
