Natixis Global Asset Management has come to market with the launch of a new UCITS fund. As reported by Citywire Global, the firm has launched a UCITS-compliant version of its Global Emerging Bonds fund. Until now the fund had only been available to French investors when it launched in October 2011. The UCITS fund will be available to investors in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the UK and joins Natixis’s Luxembourg-domiciled SICAV. Sebastien Thenard and Brigitte Le Bris will continue to run the investment strategy as lead managers. The fund invests approximately 70 per cent of its assets
In Q4 2013 the alternative UCITS sector grew by 21 per cent compared to Q4 2012, showing continued demand and investment in alternative strategies, according to the Alceda Quarterly UCITS Review. Strong equity markets, rallying into the year end, supported the demand for alternative UCITS strategies and drove the Q4 performance up 2.7 per cent, bringing year to date gains to six per cent.   Tracking the Absolute Hedge Alternative UCITS Index, which encompasses 468 funds, assets under management (AUM) reached a total of EUR159.4bn, an increase in AUM of 3.2 per cent on the previous quarter.   As equity

The new firm, Theta Research, will be based in Austin, Texas as are Halbert’s other interests, namely Halbert Wealth Management, ProFutures, and Forecasts & Trends E-Letter.   Since 2000, Theta has been a source of performance information for active money managers. Compliance and regulatory services provider Cordium has acquired HedgeStart, a provider of UK tax, accounting and regulatory compliance consulting services to the investment management and securities industries. Following three completed investments since mid-2012, NewAlpha Asset Management has announced the fourth incubation partnership between the French managers-only seeding fund Émergence and Rcube Asset Management. By James Williams – Irish law firm Matheson has provided an update from its London office on the introduction of a new corporate vehicle for Irish funds – the Irish Collective Asset Management Vehicle (ICAV). The ICAV is set to give managers another option in addition to the public limited company (plc) that has, to date, been the most popular vehicle for Irish collective investment funds.   The General Scheme of the ICAV Bill was approved for legal drafting by the Irish Government on 17 December 2013.
