Praesidium Investment Management Company (Praesidium) has appointed Daniel McHale as Director of Client Service and Business Development.
McHale joins Praesidium from Morgan Stanley where he served as Executive Director, Head of Business Development, leading a hedge fund solutions platform with over USD22 billion in assets under management and spearheading client engagement for one of the world’s fastest growing large, global asset managers. Prior to Morgan Stanley, McHale held senior roles at RSP Investments, Lyster Watson & Co LLC, FBR Capital Markets, and Sanford C Bernstein & Co LLC.

Alameda Research is leading a USD40 million investment round in Oxygen, a decentralised prime brokerage protocol that will offer prime brokerage services that have traditionally been limited to investment banks and hedge funds to everyone, free of centralised control.

KB Associates (KBA), a professional services firm advising investment funds and asset managers, is to acquire EFG Fund Management SA, a Luxembourg-based management company and subsidiary of EFG International AG, the Swiss Private Banking Group.
Hedge funds could be set for a rush of new capital pouring into the industry this year – potentially reaching up to USD30 billion – as investor appetite grows following strong 2020 performances, Barclays said on Wednesday.

AK Jensen Group (AKJ), a provider of turnkey trading and infrastructure solutions for fund managers, has acquired FMG Malta Ltd (FMG), a full scope Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) for both traditional and crypto hedge funds.
The acquisition, which is subject to regulatory approval by the Malta Financial Services Authority, allows AKJ to acquire a supplemental regulatory structure providing a Brexit pathway, distribution network and established client base. Additionally, the transaction will allow FMG members to utilise AKJ’s turnkey hedge fund offering for the benefit of their clients.
