Following the adoption of the long-delayed final Regulation Best Interest in June, what’s next for the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)?
It’s likely that finalising the proposed rule on Fund of Funds Arrangements (the Proposal) is at the top of the list. Since the SEC released the Proposal late in 2018 and requested public comment, more than 100 comment letters have been posted and SEC officials have met with a variety of industry representatives.

The Eurekahedge Hedge Fund Index rallied 1.82 per cent in June, supported by the strong equity market performance on the back of optimism over the progress of US-China trade talk.
Despite mixed economic data during the month, trade optimism and dovish central bank posturing saw the MSCI ACWI (Local) post gains of 5.41 per cent. Returns were positive across geographic mandates in June, with North American fund managers gaining 2.11 per cent and Asia ex-Japan fund managers up 2.18 per cent. Fund managers utilising equity long-bias strategies gained 3.06 per cent throughout the month, bringing their year-to-date return to 10.56
Following a slight dip in May, CTAs bounced back last month, with all of Societe Generale’s SG CTA indices reporting positive performance.
The SG CTA Index was up +2.45 per cent and built on earlier positive returns to +4.72% YTD. Trend followers led performance as the Index was up +2.75 per cent and +7.43 per cent YTD. Short-term strategies also benefitted from the strong performance in June as the Index was up +2.03 per cent and is now in positive territory for the year.

The Exchange Council of the European Energy Exchange (EEX) has approved the re-appointment of Tim Greenwood as Managing Director of EEX.
In addition to Greenwood, the Exchange Management Board also includes Steffen Koehler and Dr Tobias Paulun. Tim Greenwood who was appointed to the board in 2014 for a period of five years was re-appointed as an Exchange Management Board member for another term of five years.
