Italian government bond trading volumes and yields saw sharp increases on Tradeweb’s European Government Bond marketplace over the last few weeks. Weekly average daily trading volume (ADV) in Italian debt set a new record at EUR3.9 billion two weeks ago and was EUR3.8 billion last week, as market volatility rose around political news in Italy. IHS Markit’s MarkitSERV has expanded its global network of derivatives clearinghouses by connecting to Asigna, the clearinghouse for Mexican listed and standardised derivatives. Man Group, the active investment management firm, has appointed Teun Draaisma as portfolio manager, based in London. Draaisma will work in partnership with Ben Funnell, the head of the Man Dynamic Alpha team, to develop a new multi-asset strategy. Draaisma (pictured), brings over two decades of industry experience to Man Group. He joins the firm from BlackRock, where he was Global Equity Strategist for almost six years, focusing on portfolio management and asset allocation. Prior to BlackRock, he spent time as a portfolio manager at TT International. Draaisma was previously European Equity Strategist at Morgan Stanley from 1997 to 2010.
Hedge funds globally have allocated at least USD59 billion to responsible investment (RI), according to a survey by the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) and the Cayman Alternative Investment Summit (CAIS). The survey of 80 asset managers with USD550 billion in hedge fund assets under management (AUM) provides evidence of an increasing level of demand for RI across the hedge fund industry.   Around 40 per cent of the respondents said they are already investing using responsible investment principles, with total assets in such investments worth USD59 billion – a little over 10 per cent of the respondents’ combined hedge
Net sales of UCITS and AIFs totalled EUR47 billion in March 2018, up from EUR25 billion in February, according to the latest Investment Funds Industry Fact Sheet from the European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA). Traders disagree over whether MiFID II has been successful, according to new research by SIX, with a combined 70 per cent of traders surveyed by the Swiss exchange believing that trading has become more transparent –  a key goal of MiFID II.
