S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI) has created and licensed the S&P Europe 350 Shareholder Yield Low Volatility Index to Commerzbank AG.
The index aims to achieve a balance between shareholder yield, a measure of total return to shareholders, and volatility.
The index is designed to measure the 50 companies that offer a high shareholder yield within the S&P Europe 350 with the least volatility. The constituents are equally weighted and the index will be rebalanced quarterly.

Managed futures gained 1.63 per cent in August, according to the Barclay CTA Index compiled by BarclayHedge.
Year to date, the index is up 2.18 per cent.
“The trend was a friend in August,” says Sol Waksman, founder and president of BarclayHedge. “The S&P 500 rallied to new all-time highs, US Treasury yields declined to new lows on the year, and the US dollar continued to strengthen.”

Sussex Partners, a specialist advisory firm focused on alternative investments, has appointed Frederic Neefs as a partner of the firm.
Neefs was for 14 years head of investments for Credit Agricole Asset Management where he co-headed the development of a series of fund of hedge funds, the "Greenway Funds", totalling over EUR20 billion in AUM.
Most recently, Neefs was a partner of Lozé & Associes, a Paris based capital introduction company and parent company of fund of funds business Alternative Leaders, for which Neefs acted as chief investment officer.

Institutional investors performing due diligence on Asia-Pacific focused hedge funds may be best served homing in on long/short equity and macro strategies.
According to a recent report from Cambridge Associates: “Investing in Asian Hedge Funds: Opportunities and Challenges”, which notes that other strategies, like distressed credit and event-driven, may not pay off in Asian markets like they do elsewhere.
The report underscores the fact that investing in Asia-focused hedge funds requires a different framework than institutional investors typically use in other regions' markets.

UK currency manager C-View Limited has launched the C-View Stelrox Systematic Currency Program in conjunction with Stelrox Capital Management.
Alongside the launch, C-View has appointed Buford Scott, managing partner of Stelrox Capital Management, as the chief investment officer and portfolio manager of the C-View Stelrox Systematic Currency Strategy.
The programme is scheduled to begin trading in September 2014.

Emerging hedge fund managers have led industry performance over the past year, as equity markets have extended gains, investor risk tolerance has escalated and total hedge fund capital has increased to a record level.
Emerging hedge fund managers with a track record of less than two years have posted an average gain of 11.3 per cent in the trailing 12 months ending 2Q14, topping the gain of +9.1 per cent for the HFRI Fund Weighted Composite, as reported in the latest HFR Market Microstructure Industry Report released today by HFR.

Object Trading has received certification of conformance to the IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) for UK derivative products and is ready to support clients through the trading access migration from NYSE Liffe to the ICE trading platform.
Clients will be able to continue trading without disruptions to their trading systems.
