The London Metal Exchange (LME) has launched a month-long consultation on proposals designed to broaden access to its electronic trading platform, LMEselect.
The changes put forward include opening up LMEselect access to category 3 and category 4 members of the Exchange as well as adding flexibility to the criteria required to apply for LME membership.

By Simon Schilder, partner, Ogier – In recognition of the needs of assisting start-up and small/ mid-sized non-institutional investment managers to overcome some of the continued barriers to entry into the industry, the British Virgin Islands (BVI) has recently published the Securities and Investment Business (Incubator and Approved Funds) Regulations, 2015 (the Regulations). These Regulations, which are expected to come into force shortly, introduce two new funds products into the BVI’s funds offering, the “Incubator Fund” and the “Approved Fund”, which are intended to complement the BVI current offering of Private Funds; Professional Funds; and Public Funds.

Jabre Capital Partners has launched the JABCAP (LUX) – Emerging Markets Fund, the third on Jabre Capital’s UCITS platform JABCAP (LUX), which is based and regulated in Luxembourg.
The new Fund, set to open on 15 June 2015, will be managed by Carl Tohme, manager of the successful JABCAP EMEA Fund launched in 2008. The new Fund will have a broad emerging markets mandate, seeking to achieve capital appreciation within a diversified portfolio of securities related to companies across emerging markets globally.

Following further increases in R/QFII allocations and improvements in the R/QFII application process, FTSE has begun its transition to include China A Shares in its widely followed global benchmarks with the launch of two transitional indexes for Emerging Markets.
The two new Emerging Markets indexes include China A Shares at a weighting equivalent to total R/QFII allocations. The A Share weighting will increase as total R/QFII allocations increase and the China A Shares inclusion indexes will merge seamlessly with the standard FTSE Emerging Markets indexes when China A Shares fully meet FTSE's country classification criteria for emerging markets.

All lights turned green for Hedge funds after a difficult start to the month.
