Alternative investment management firm Evanston Capital Management has appointed Lance Donenberg as principal and head of strategic business development, effective 1 October. Donenberg has overall responsibility for the firm’s business development and client service functions. Managed futures gained 2.14 per cent in September, according to the Barclay CTA Index compiled by BarclayHedge. After three quarters of the year, the index is up 4.45 per cent.   “Although the year-to-date return is modest, more than 75 percent of the CTAs that have reported data through September are having a profitable run,” says Sol Waksman, founder and president of BarclayHedge.   All eight of Barclay’s CTA indices had gains in September. Geoffrey F Aronow, former US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) general counsel and international affairs chief counsel, has joined the SIdley Austin as a partner in its global securities & derivatives enforcement and regulatory practice. Castle Harbour Securities has appointed Damien Regnier, previously portfolio manager for global convertible bonds at Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management, to co-manage a new global convertible bond fund. Gottex Fund Management is on track to launch its first UCITS RQFII China product during the first quarter of 2015, according to the group’s latest trading statement for the quarter ended 30 September 2014. The product will invest in onshore China A-shares and be managed by the Gottex-VStone office in Shanghai. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has named Marc Wyatt as deputy director of the agency's Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations (OCIE).
