KB Associates, a consulting firm to the asset management community, has opened an office in the Cayman Islands.
The new office will provide directorship, company registration and registered office services to Cayman domiciled funds.

Noyes was most recently the head of international sales and investor relations for BRZ Investimentos, one of the largest independent asset managers in Brazil. While in Sao Paulo, she also served as the Brazil representative for AIMA and established the AIMA Brazil network.

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission has filed a civil complaint in the federal district court in Boston, Massachusetts, against Boston-based John B Wilson and his company, JBW Capital.
The complaint charges that from July 2007 through at least May 2010, the defendants solicited and obtained at least USD1.8m from approximately 30 participants and acted as commodity pool operators without being registered as such or exempt from CFTC registration.
The CFTC complaint, filed in the US District Court, District of Massachusetts, charges that on 13 September 2008, the defendants sent pool participants an email that falsely represented the pool’s value

The European Energy Exchange (EEX) is to launch the primary market auctions of Emission Allowances for the third trading period on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany on 12 October 2012.
Subject to the formal approval of the auction calendar by the EU Commission, the additional German auctions of the EU Emission Allowances (EUA) will take place on Fridays.
Starting on 12 October, a volume of 2,400,000 EUA will be auctioned on the EEX Spot Market every week on Fridays. The last auction date of the year (14 December) contains a remaining quantity of 1,931,000 EUA.

Bedell Cristin has appointed Valerie Georges-Thomas to head up the firm’s British Virgin Islands office.
Georges-Thomas (pictured) was previously a partner at Appleby in the firm’s corporate and commercial practice group. Her appointment follows on from Bedell opening an office in Singapore in July, headed by BVI lawyer Stephen Adams.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has approved the application of trueEX for designation as a contract market.
trueEX is organised as a Delaware limited liability company and is a wholly owned subsidiary of trueEX Group.
trueEX has indicated that initially it intends to list for trading interest rate swap contracts. It will be the first designated contract market to do so as permitted under the Dodd-Frank Act.
